Living the simple life

1 December 2013

Summer's out there somewhere...

Apparently it is the first day of Summer here...and it is dismal and cold, four degrees this morning, that is just plain ridiculous!  I guess that is the New England Tablelands for you, the region definitely does not fit to the stereotypical image of Australia - hot sunny days, beaches, prawns on the BBQ (actually I have no idea why everyone thinks Australians always cook prawns/shrimps on the BBQ, I have never had prawns or seen prawns at any BBQ I've been to.  It's usually good old steak, chicken and sausages).  Here's hoping the weather decides to warm up soon.
The boys are currently out and about checking out the hot rods, so I thought awesome I will get a bit of time to chill out, just me and my newborn little girl.  I think the universe actually laughed out loud at the thought and of course my morning has consisted of continually rocking and holding bub as every time I try to put her down she cries. So here I am writing my first blog post one handed hoping that I manage to type everything correctly.  To think that I actually was under the impression that before I had children my life was insane with no spare time.  Now when I think back to the 'before children' days I am completely mystified, what did I manage to do with all my spare time?!  Don't get me wrong, I adore being a Mum and I am so blessed to have two gorgeous children but sometimes I just want to go to the toilet by myself or sit down and drink an entire cup of tea before it goes cold.
I've been attempting in what little spare time I have to work on my photography skills, I will leave you with a couple of shots I took at the local antique machinery day a few weeks ago.  It was a great day out, especially for my little boy.  My favourite display was the blacksmith tent, the blacksmith (as you can see in the photo) couldn't have looked more 'Australian bushie.

As you can see as always I was obsessed with the horses, enjoy.
